Winter 1982 // Sometimes

Despite being about 3 months late to the party, I decided it was time to revisit the lovely, folky Winter 1982. The Birmingham duo have, 3 months ago, released a new single entitled ‘Sometimes’ and it is just as beautiful as you would expect it to be. It is delicate but it’s angry, there’s a strong and raw emotion that gets released as the song plays it’s story.

As it opens, you get the most clear image of love; “He don’t deserve you like I do / I’ve tried so hard to forget you my love”, the melodies are soft and concerning and the vocals are raw and seep through your body with warmth. And then, out of a rush of emotion comes a shade of anger; “Oh bring him if needs be / I’ll show him what for”. It’s  a need for love and it’s truly magnificent to hear that emotion, pull and honesty in the music. My breath has been taken away and I’m sure yours will be too.
