Single Review: Bitter’s Kiss // My God

Bitter’s Kiss, also known as Chloe Baker, is a New Jersey based solo artist who has a voice that is almost as riveting as her pointed lyrics. With a lot of her songwriting relating closely to the events in her life, it’s hard not to find yourself absorbed in the emotion of each track. A particular Mytacism favourite is ‘My God’ which doesn’t fail to support Baker’s high standards.

‘My God’ is a mixture of hope-filled melodies, luscious vocals with just the right amount of grit and enough meaning to pack a punch into your consciousness. As Bitter’s Kiss says of the track, “My God is my reaction to the irony in religious conflict. Religious beliefs are most often promoted as ways to make us better people, but can also be used to justify violence against others, with both sides believing that God is on their side. The idea for the video was to show sameness and humanity in our different religious expressions” showing just how relevant and intelligent Baker and her music is. And, if you want something with even more meaning, the video for the track is both direct and alluring.

‘My God’ is one of Bitter’s Kiss’s latest releases.
